Swimming Pool Chlorinators Enhance Water Quality

By Cherry Mercer

Leisure time for family and friends around a swimming pool is greatly enhanced by swimming pool chlorinators that guarantee crystal clear water every time a swimmer dives into the water. Whether one is a serious competitor or merely a casual paddler, the quality of the water is important. A green and slimy pool is certain to dissuade everyone from diving in or even floating across on a large blow-up bed.

The home owner demands perfect water condition every day, especially in summer when outdoor fun is at a premium. However, he also expects pool maintenance to be an easy task and not an onerous chore. He does not wish to pay premium prices for upkeep when his budget is already under strain from the cost of outdoor entertainment in the summer months.

Home owners are finding that salt swimming pool chlorinators are the answer to their upkeep problems. Salt is ultimately more cost effective than the use of chlorine. Salt is also a natural product which is far preferable to, and more healthy than, the chemical solution.

Chlorine is undoubtedly an effective method of maintaining the clarity of standing water, but it is not without risk. Storage of chlorine can be dangerous but so can the much of the chemical. It creates an unpleasant smell and unpleasant swimming conditions as many swimmers suffer from skin and eye complaints when they encounter the chemicals in water.

Swimming pool chlorinators manage water quality through the use of salt. The amount of salt required to get the process underway is somewhat daunting. Initially hundreds of kilograms of salt may be necessary. The amount necessary is dependent of the water capacity.

There are questions of cost. However, the cost of chlorination material has risen rapidly over the years and is set to continue rising. Furthermore, it is an ongoing cost. In many ways, it is preferable to make a large initial payment and to have nominal maintenance costs.

Manufacturers are quick to point out that evaporation of water merely leads to increased saline and the initial amount added will only need topping up. The loss of water during cleaning will result in a need to top-up. Excessive splashing by children, or even adults, may also necessitate a top-up.

Chlorine has held the swimming pool market captive for many years. Interestingly, salt water chlorinators have been in everyday use for over thirty years. They are, therefore, well tested and proven safe and efficient.

The recent rise in popularity of chlorinators is not simply a matter of economics. The benefits of not using chemicals are enormous. Those who suffer from respiratory ailments will notice a positive difference and their swimming pleasure will be greatly enhanced.

Swimming pool chlorinators are staking a claim in the market. A small amount of salt in the water is beneficial to all. Bathers are spared the disagreeable odor and taste of chlorine while at the same time benefiting from a gentle antiseptic. The impact on the pocket is always an important consideration and the reduced maintenance costs are significant.
